Popular Lower face Anti-wrinkle Injection Treatments

Updated: Feb 15, 2024

Various anti-wrinkle injection treatments are popular for addressing concerns in the lower face. Botulinum toxin, colloquially known as Botox, is a popular injectable used to relax muscles and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. While none of these treatments involve improving wrinkles, you may notice that we refer to ‘anti-wrinkle injections’ when discussing them. This is because ‘anti-wrinkle’ product works by relaxing muscles, and so can be used for other purposes such as lifting and slimming facial features, and smoothening the skin in when treating the lower face.

Popular Lower face Anti-wrinkle Injection Treatments

Here are some popular lower face anti-wrinkle injection treatments:

1. Teeth Grinding (Bruxism), TMJ pain, Jaw clenching treatment, Jawline Slimming Injections:

This treatment involves injections to the masseter muscle. Typically, 20-40 units of product will be placed into each masseter which causes a reduction in strength to reduce teeth grinding, TMJ pain and jaw clenching. This in turns reduces its size, creating a slimming effect. This treatment is ideal for those with a wide or square-shaped face to create a slimmer, heart-shaped, V-shaped face to look more feminine. The effect can last 4 to 6 months and can last even longer with regular maintenance doses.

2. Nefertiti Lift and Platysma Bands Treatment:

Neck bands form with age as the platysma muscle of your neck becomes hyperactive. This gives a saggy look and takes away your jawline definition and youthful neck silhouette. We use the muscle-relaxing property of anti-wrinkle injections to treat the platysma muscle, and effectively improve the appearance of your vertical neck bands. This technique involves injecting Botox along the jawline to define it; and neck to lift and relax the neck bands. This treatment can work synergistically with jawline fillers to further define the jaw.

3. Chin Dimpling Treatment:

An overactive mentalis muscle causes the chin to pebble by pulling on the skin. The term 'cobblestone' and 'mandarin' chin is used to describe this. We relax this muscle with Botox injections, which smooths out dimples and irregularities your skin, creating a more even surface. It also lowers the position of your chin, for a V-shape feminine facial aesthetic. This treatment can be complimented with chin fillers to further elongate your chin and achieve an aesthetically-pleasing facial profile.

4. Downturned Corner of the Mouth (DAO) Treatment:

Anti-wrinkle injections can be used to target the depressor anguli oris (DAO) muscle, which pulls down the corners of the mouth. This can help elevate the corners and reduce a downturned appearance. By lifting the corners of the mouth, it will make you look less saggy, more approachable and have a more attractive smile.

5. Lip Flip:

A lip flip involves injecting Botox into the orbicularis oris muscles around the upper lip. This can create a subtle lifting effect, making the upper lip appear fuller and slightly turned upward. No volume is created but height is added so that more lip is shown when smiling. This is a cheaper alternative for clients who do not have the budget for a lip filler treatment; or for first-timers with deep fears of duck lips who want to test the effect of having more red lip showing before considering a longer-lasting lip filler treatment.
